The most amazing promise in five simple words

I’m often amazed at the way God describes something beyond wonderful with just a few simple words. “He made the stars also” (Gen.1:16) “Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord.” (John 20:20)
I was thinking today about one of God’s great promises that often comes in just five words- I will be with you.
I will be with thee…Genesis 26:3 to Isaac I am with thee…Genesis 28:15 to Jacob Certainly I will be with thee…Exodus 3:12 to Moses I will be with thee…Josh 1:5 to Joshua
I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee…Hebrews 13:5 I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world…Matthew 28:20
He promises us His presence.
We might think we need money but we really need Him. We might think we need a good job but we really need Him. We might think we need physical healing or a big change in our circumstances but we really need Him.
He has already promised everything we need because He has promised to be with us. With us in happiness…with us in pain…with us in heartache…with us in joy…with us in weariness…with us in celebration…with us.
God walked with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day….He still wants that. The Lord Jesus prayed, (John 17:24) “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am…”
The Lord says to me, “I will be with you.” May I never reply, “Yes, but what I really need is…”
How would I feel if I went up to a child that I loved and said, “I’d like to walk with you” only to hear him or her reply, “That’s nice but could you really just give me some money to buy a new bike or a really cool game for my computer (so I can be really happy)?”
May my heart echo the words of Paul in Philippians 3: 10, “That I may know Him…..” May I rejoice in the presence of God.
